Album Release: Promenade out 30th October 2009

Finally, we are very happy to announce the release of our long awaited debut album ‘Promenade’! The 12-track album boasts three industrious songwriters, resulting in an eclectic album that ranges through polemic Indie Blues number ‘Preaching the Blues’, Acoustic Pop hit ‘Star Crossed Lovers’, punchy Arthouse Rock track ‘Know Your Love’ to atmospheric muses such as the penitential ‘Yasemin’ enhanced by a carefully crafted soundscape. Contributions by the Bluebells’ Ken McCluskey in ‘Preaching the Blues’ and Archie Dickson’s accomplished lead guitar work on ‘Standing’ both provide unexpected decor to the album.

The album is available to download from iTunes or any other online music provider from 30th October. You can also buy a physical copy including a beautiful booklet at any of our upcoming gigs or at the album launch…

Single Release: Preaching the Blues out 1st October 2009

Our second single is out… available to download from iTunes from 1st Ocotber.
‘Preaching the Blues’ is a sturdy blues track with a socio-political message. It’s been released as a response to the media debate in which lead singer Roxy got entangled after contributing to the controversial ‘Faith and Sexuality’ art exhibition in Glasgow’s GoMA. The track speaks of the the struggles faced by people who are put under pressure to choose between their faith and their sexuality. First Aid Records has also published an Arthouse music video for ‘Preaching the Blues’ on YouTube, with footage taken from the recent Pride Scotia march in Edinburgh. Recorded and mixed at Glasgow’s underground Elba Studios by Stephen Scott, with harmonica contributed by the Bluebells’ Ken McCluskey, this digital release comes with a catchy and innovative remix by Glasgow based sound-artist and upcoming DJ Fremsley – Download both on iTunes or any other online music provider!

Post-production

You, the waiting people, will be very pleased to know we have finished recording all 12 tracks and we are now on to the post-production stage in which we will ‘accessorise’ (Roxy’s words) the songs with sound effects… I wonder if you will be able to hear them in the final tracks…??

Wanna book us for your party? - We play for red wine!

Salon Society add colour to the underground caverns of your ipods and parties... First formed in 2006 when Roxanne Claxton (lead singer) and Dorothy Weber (rhythm guitar) found much solace in expressing their views on the world through metaphors and melodies. A year later Salon Society were joined by Drummer Luci Jones who began to write her own material for the band. Finally the freshest addition to Salon Society in January 09 has been Roy Collings (bass).

Salon Society sound is influenced by the drama of life’s experiences combined by an eclectic mix of musical genres, that no party should be without.

Book us, your local Society into your Party Salon for a night to remember!
